Astrid Lespier has experience offering individual and group therapy to all ages, having worked with children, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults. Her areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, stress, self-care, life adjustments, developing social skills, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, physical conditions impacting mental health, pain management, and cultural diversity. Fully bilingual, Astrid offers therapy and assessment in both English and Spanish. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and is currently completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, having finished all coursework and now writing her dissertation while working as a clinical psychology extern at Lepage Associates. Astrid has worked in a variety of settings to include private practice, community clinics, partial hospitalization programs, and acute-care hospitals.
Intervention Style: Astrid utilizes an individualized approach with clients in therapy. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Astrid has also received training in Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, integrating those as well into her therapy. She is also skilled Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, crisis intervention, behavioral activation, integrated primary care as needed, and assessing suicidal behavior risk. Astrid provides a secure space for therapy, always mindful that every client has their own story. She encourages the importance of living without losing one’s essence. Astrid helps the client to identify their expectations with intervention and work toward enhancing their well-being. Together, they set and achieve meaningful goals. She firmly believes there is always a way to find hope and healing, no matter how challenging the journey may seem. Having worked with many children, Astrid is also skilled at engaging children and teens in the therapy process.
Therapy Experience: Astrid has experience across diverse age groups, from three years old to older adults. She has worked with conditions related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, adjustment, bipolar, trauma, substance use disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, maternal phases of pregnancy, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. In addition, she has supported clients in recovering from physical trauma, surgery, strokes, and other neurocognitive conditions. Her therapeutic approach is targeted to each client’s unique needs, using brief therapy, individualized sessions, or long-term therapy, as bet fits the client. Astrid has also led group therapy for adults focused on grief, self-esteem, and healthy boundaries, and group therapy for teens and young adults focused on the development of social skills.
Evaluation Experience: Astrid provides psychological assessment to children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience conducting psychometric, psychoeducational, psychological, and personality evaluations. The results from psychological assessments, intake interviews, and direct observations can provide evidence to clarify emotional or cognitive indicators and to rule out or confirm a diagnosis, and can be used in forensic settings as well.
Personal: Astrid enjoys activities in nature such as visiting the beach or walking. She also loves working out, dancing, listening to music, spending time with the family, and engaging in water sports.
