Gay Haynes enjoys working with children and tweens who may be experiencing a variety of common childhood issues, such as anxiety, depression, learning difficulties to include ADHD, social problems, anger management, behavioral acting out, low self-esteem, or the unique challenges of giftedness. She also works with children and early life transitions, such as parents separating, blended families, moving, entering a new school, or welcoming a new sibling or parent figure, just to name a few. Gay understands children communicate differently and utilizes various approaches such as playing games and imaginative thinking to aid in helping them feel comfortable. She also utilizes a blend of therapeutic techniques based on the issue and the child’s personality, to include a humanistic approach, client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychoeducational interventions. Gay communicates with parents and educators throughout her work so that progress can be uninterrupted at home as well as their educational setting.
