Dr. Elizabeth Schreiber is a postdoctoral psychology fellow at Lepage Associates with over five years of experience. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maine and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Schreiber has worked in a wide variety of settings, including out-patient private practice, hospitals, inpatient settings, community mental health centers, and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) specializing in Interprofessional Geropsychology. She has experience providing individual and group therapy, marriage/relationship therapy, and conducting comprehensive/individualized psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological evaluations. Providing therapy, Dr. Schreiber has worked primarily with adults and older adults, and providing evaluations, she has worked with all ages (i.e., children as young as 6 months, adolescents, adults, and older adults ages 65+). Some of her interests include comprehensive assessments, mood concerns, aging, life transitions, and trauma.

Intervention Style: Dr. Schreiber utilizes evidence-based approaches to therapy and intervention, primarily informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Specifically, exploring how changing our thoughts and perceptions can allow us to view the exact same situation in new ways. She utilizes a variety of tools to identify maladaptive patterns of thinking and helps clients work toward restructuring their thoughts and ultimately changing their overall outlook on the situation. Through her work, Dr. Schreiber has developed a collaborative and flexible therapeutic style that is person-centered and meets each client where they are at. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is a key component to success, and strives to create an environment that promotes self-growth, self-acceptance, and self-compassion in an open, honest, and non-judgmental space. Additionally, Dr. Schreiber has utilized Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Written Exposure Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Life-Review, and Well-Being Therapy.>

Therapy Experience: Dr. Schreiber enjoys working with all ages, with a specific interest in working with adults and older adults. She has worked with a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, mood concerns, PTSD, self-esteem, stress management, and interpersonal and relational difficulties. She has extensive experience working with people experiencing depression, life transitions, stress management, and trauma, as well as other concerns. Dr. Schreiber has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, as well as individuals experiencing complex medical concerns. Additionally, Dr. Schreiber has experience conducting individual therapy, group therapy, and couple’s therapy. Her group therapy experience includes trauma focused groups, mindfulness-based groups, caregiver support groups, and attention and related problems groups.

Evaluation Experience: Dr. Schreiber has experience conducting comprehensive assessments across the lifespan. She has worked in a variety of settings conducting comprehensive/individualized psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological evaluations to provide diagnostic clarification and inform treatment. She has extensive experience conducting neuropsychological evaluations with older adults with a wide range of neurocognitive functioning (ranging from mild cognitive decline to moderate-severe dementia) with various underlying disease entities (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, vascular disease, Lewy Body disease, and Parkinson’s disease, among others), frequently in the context of complicated histories and co-morbid medical and psychiatric illnesses. Dr. Schreiber has experience conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations with children ranging in age from 6 months to mid-20’s, with complex medical histories, including cardiac patients, oncology patients, and developmental disorders. Additionally, she has experience conducting neuropsychological evaluations with adults with recent traumatic brain injuries and other comorbidities. She has experience conducting complex evaluations in both inpatient and outpatient settings and has conducted evaluations addressing attention concerns, learning difficulties, developmental deficits, emotional/psychological/behavioral functioning, memory, intellectual abilities, and executive functioning.

Research: Dr. Schreiber’s doctoral research focused on investigating intimate partner violence risk factors in late life. This led to a publication in the Journal of Aggression and Violent Behavior.

Personal: Dr. Schreiber grew up in rural Maine and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Maine, before moving to South Florida for graduate school, Richmond, Virginia for her doctoral internship, and on to Durham, NC. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places as well as reading, cooking, exploring the outdoors and spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends.
