Beckett West received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in clinical social work from the prestigious social work program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following six years of service in the Army and a deployment to Iraq, Beckett honorably discharged from the military to pursue a career as a therapist. He widened his experience, working with teenagers, families, and the public school system. Beckett works with all ages and diagnoses, with a special interest in the LGBTQ community. He is passionate about serving others, and strives to exemplify the social work ethics in everyday life.
Intervention Style & Therapy Experience: Beckett enjoys helping clients problem solve in order to address any barriers they experience that are keeping them from achieving their goals. He believes setting smaller, individual goals gets us to our desired end result, one step at a time. Beckett has a laid- back, soft spoken approach when working with clients. He has helped clients navigate family, school, life changes and their self identity. He takes a strengths based approach to therapy, using CBT and interpersonal therapy to help clients make sense of the world, and more specifically, their role in it. He believes we are all the experts in our own lives, and as such, he allows clients to set the pace of their therapy. Beckett has specialized experience working with teens on goal setting, problem solving and time management skills. He is also a huge advocate for the LGBTQ community.
