Dr. Gustavo Halley is a licensed and clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience. He got his bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Saint Joseph’s College in Maine, then went on to get masters and doctorate degrees at Carlos Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico (PR). Dr. Halley has worked in a wide variety of settings, including private practice, community service, victim advocacy, forensic assessment, and consultation. He has experience providing individual, couples, group and family therapy, and can provide bilingual services as he is fluent in English and Spanish.
Intervention Style: Dr. Halley introduces an eclectic, integral approach to therapy. His focus on humanistic and existential psychology combined with mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques, make for an open, heartfelt therapeutic process. In addition, Dr. Halley is a proponent of using nature as a therapeutic ally in therapy along with music therapy and aromatherapy.
Therapy Experience: As a seasoned clinician, Dr. Halley has provided therapy in a variety of different settings for a variety of different patients, and works with all presenting problems. He is well-versed in individual therapy, as well as couples, group, and family therapy. Dr. Halley works with all ages and especially enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and parents. He has a vast amount of experience working with marginalized populations and trauma.
Evaluation Experience: Dr. Halley has over 20 years of experience in the area of comprehensive psychological assessment, with extensive experience in forensic evaluation.
Teaching & Clinical Supervision: Dr. Halley’s career has allowed him to also work in the university setting. He has taught at the doctoral level and supervised future psychologists in their clinical development at Carlos Albizu University in San Juan PR, Ponce Health Sciences University in Ponce PR, Turabo University in Isabela PR, and Marshall University in Huntington, WV.
